FOR FISCAL YEAR 1990 THROUGH 1993

The Memorandum of Understanding between the. City of Santa Ana and the
Police Officers Association for fiscal years 1990 through 1993 executed on
December 10, 1990 is hereby amended as follows:
Article XI "Other Leaves of Absence", Section 1, K. "Payment for Unused
Sick Leave", Subparagraph 2 is hereby amended to read as follows:
2. At his or her option, an employee may convert any lump sum payment
provided herein into health insurance premiums, to the extent necessary to
provide the employee and his or her designated eligible dependents, if any,
with benefits under the health insurance program ADMINISTERED BY THE
ASSOCIATION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE EMPLOYEE REPRESENTED BY THE ASSOCIATION AT
THE TIME OF THE SEPARATION. The City's obligation to pay such premiums shall
be terminated upon the happening of any of the following events:
a. Premiums have been paid on behalf of the former employee for
a period of five (5) years beyond the date of termination of employment; or
b. The sum of premiums paid equals one-hundred fifty percent
(150%) of the amount of the lump sum payment that the employee would have
received for unused sick leave benefits had this option not been elected.
This agreement will be effective as of June 16, 1991.
