Rodriguez #2836 in regard to a Custodial Death which occurred in the Santa Ana Detention Facility as located in the city of Santa Ana, CA.  During said discourse, Det. Sgt. Rodriguez requested that I respond to the SAPD CAP Division, in order to participate in the investigation into the aforementioned incident. 0400 Hours: I arrived at the SAPD and proceeded to the CAP Division. Once there, I met with Sgt. Rodriguez and other members of the SAPD IB CAP Division to include Detective Corporal M. Lemmon #3174, Detective J. Garcia #2409, and Detective F. Gomez #2706, who would later be designated as Case Agent. Also present within the CAP Division upon my arrival were Orange County District Attorney¶s (OCDA) Office Special Investigations Section (SIC) personnel inclusive of Supervising District Attorney Investigator B. Tanner, District Attorney Investigator T. Toth, District Attorney Investigator D. Melnyk, District Attorney Investigator C. Brower and District Attorney Investigator B. Sheldon. 0512 Hours: I attended a CAP Division briefing in regard to the custodial death being investigated. DA Inv. Tanner provided all information known about the investigation at that time. This information, furthermore, was inclusive of the decedent¶s name, the specific location of his death, a housing module located within the Santa Ana Detention Facility, as well as critical aspects of the occurrence. At the culmination of the aforementioned briefing, I was assigned Interviewing/Canvassing Officer responsibilities and partnered with DA Inv. Brower. 0528 Hours: DA Inv. Brower and I proceeded to the SADF in furtherance of the investigation into demise. 0530 Hours: The SAPD and OCDA Office personnel, as indicated above, and I arrived at the SADF. 0534 Hours: I arrived at the general location associated with the custodial death investigation, which was identified as the third floor custodial housing area, Section D, as located within the SADF.  Upon my arrival, I was signed into the investigative scene by SAPD Patrol Division Officer K. Gray #3654. 0547 Hours: I attended an on scene briefing in regard to the above indicated incident as conducted by SAPD Patrol Division Sergeant J. Garcia #3030. During this briefing, Sgt. Garcia disseminated additional information in regard to the death as known at the present time. This information, furthermore, was inclusive of the precise location of the incident, the single person detention cell identified by the characters D24 as located on the mezzanine level of the aforementioned detention housing module, and the critical information known about the death at the time of briefing. This death, furthermore, was preliminarily . At the time of Sgt. Garcia¶s briefing, SADF Correctional Officer M. Velasquez #2748 was identified as the last person to see alive and Correctional Officer C. Fernandez #3142 was identified as the SADF staff member who discovered subsequent to his demise.  0602 Hours: I walked the investigative scene, viewing it in its entirety.  0620 Hours to 0725 Hours: DA Inv. Brower and I conducted canvassing duties associated with custodial death investigation. Please see the additional Supplemental Report as documented under the above-indicated case number for further information concerning this process. 0730 Hours: I left the investigative scene and returned to the SAPD CAP Division in order to further investigate the case as indicated above.
