Officer Processing_Chris Peterson_Redacted SA 18-021 Investigator: Chris Peterson Approved By: Date of Report: 07/05/18 Date: 07/05/2018 Page 1 of 3 CASE NAME: TAYLOR CLASSIFICATION: OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING (FATAL) TYPE: OFFICER PROCESSING AGENCY: SANTA ANA POLICE DEPARTMENT On Monday, June 2nd, 2018, at approximately 0340 hours, I witnessed Orange County Crime Lab Forensic Specialist SYDNEY WALKER process the following Santa Ana Police Officer under FR# 18-49132-3:  GAVIN ROELOFS, # 3514. The following individuals were present during the processing:  Attorney  JIM GARCIA Detective, Santa Ana Police Department  BRYAN ATKINSON Corporal, Santa Ana Police Department  LAURA BENABIDES Orange County Forensic Specialist (trainee)  STAN BERRY Supervising OC District Attorney’s Investigator The officer was assigned to the Patrol Division and was wearing a Santa Ana Police Department issued uniform, which consisted of dark blue pants and a dark blue uniform shirt with Santa Ana Police Department patches on each of the shoulders. Attached to the left front breast of the uniform shirt was a metal Santa Ana Police Department badge. There was also a name tag affixed to the right front breast shirt pocket. There was an empty Body-Worn Camera holder affixed to the center of his uniform shirt. The officer was wearing a Santa Ana Police Department issued leather Sam Brown duty belt. Officer ROELOF’S Sam Brown duty belt contained the following items:  Radio ORANGE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT SA 18-021 Investigator: Chris Peterson Approved By: Date of Report: 07/05/18 Date: 07/05/2018 Page 2 of 3  Two handcuff cases  Empty Taser holster  Two handgun magazines in magazine pouches.  Glock, Model 22, handgun holster on the right side of his belt with a frame mounted flashlight  Empty Baton holder  Keys  Pepper Spray canister in pouch Forensic Specialist WALKER photographed Officer ROELOFS and also photographed and collected the following items in the presence of retained Attorney :  Glock, Model 22, .40 caliber, semi–automatic handgun, serial #BCDR141. ROELOFS stated that he carries his handgun with the magazine loaded to capacity of 15 cartridges, plus one cartridge in the chamber  Streamlight TLR-1 flashlight, serial # C4-4853500816 attached to the Glock Model 22 listed above  One .40 caliber cartridge from the chamber of the handgun (WIN .40 S&W) WALKER provided the following cartridge counts:  Thirteen .40 caliber cartridges from the magazine in the handgun (15 round capacity)  Two magazines from the pouch on ROELOFS duty belt. Both loaded to full capacity of 15 cartridges Forensic Specialist WALKER photographed but did not collect the following items in the presence of retained attorney :  Glock, Model 43, 9mm, semi-automatic handgun, serial # BEWS356. ROELOFS stated that he carries his back up handgun in his left front pant pocket with the magazine loaded to capacity of 6 cartridges, plus one in the chamber SA 18-021 Investigator: Chris Peterson Approved By: Date of Report: 07/05/18 Date: 07/05/2018 Page 3 of 3  One, 9mm cartridge from the chamber of the back-up handgun (FC 9mm Luger) WALKER provided the following cartridge count.  Six, 9mm cartridges from the magazine in the handgun ROELOFS had a Streamlight mini flashlight and black latex gloves in his left Sap pocket and folding knife in his right Sap pocket.
