On Friday, March 11, 2015, at approximately 1535 hours, Santa Ana Police Detective
RICK DIAZ and I conducted canvass interviews of the 301 block of South Main Street, in the city
of Santa Ana, regarding the above officer involved shooting investigation. The following
interviews were audio digitally recorded:
arrived at his residence after the shooting incident occurred. He did
not witness anything related to this incident.
On March 11, 2015, at approximately 1300 hours, was home inside
her apartment when she heard the sound of five gun shots coming from outside of her
apartment. did not go outside to investigate further.
only spoke Spanish. SAPD Detective DIAZ assisted with translation.
On March 11, 2015, at approximately 1230 to 1240 hours, was home in her
apartment. She went to open a window, located on the north side of her apartment facing Pine

Street, and heard a police helicopter flying overhead. She saw police cars and an officer putting
on a ballistic vest. Immediately following this, she heard the sound of five or six gunshots.
did not go outside to investigate further.
On March 11, 2015, at approximately 1330 hours, was inside of her
house, to the rear of 301 South Main Street. She is the apartment manager for 301 South Main
Street. was notified by one of her apartment tenants that the police were on Main
Street pointing their guns at someone. She walked from her house to the front of 301 South
Main Street. When she observed all of the police cars on Main Street, she ran back to her
residence.
As soon as returned back to her residence, she heard the sound of one gun
shot. Approximately three minutes later, she walked out the north side of her residence
towards East Pine Street, and observed police officers putting on ballistic vests and running
towards Main Street. While was standing outside, she heard the sound of four or five
more gun shots. She ran back inside her house and did not witness anything further regarding
this incident.
On March 11, 2015, at approximately 1300 hours, was in her apartment
when she heard police sirens. She went to the front door of the apartment building and looked
down Main Street. She saw police officers pointing their guns at a vehicle stopped on Main
Street, south of their apartment building. She ran to house, located to the

rear of 301 South Main Street. heard the sound of one gun shot that was soon followed
by six more gun shots. She did not witness anything further regarding this incident.
On March 11, 2015, at approximately 1300 hours, was home inside his
apartment. He heard the sound of one gun shot, followed by three more gun shots several
seconds later. did not witness anything further regarding this incident.
is the manager of Pomeroy’s Muffler Inc., located at the above address.
SAPD Detective DIAZ assisted with translation since only spoke Spanish.
On March 11, 2015, at approximately 1300 hours, was at his place of business
working on cars in the garage. He heard police sirens on Main Street in front of his business, so
he walked out of the garage and stood in the parking lot adjacent to Main Street. saw
police cars stopped in the street and officers standing outside their police cars yelling
commands “Get your hands up.” While standing in the parking lot, heard the sound of
one gun shot, possibly coming from a white pick-up truck that was stopped in the street on
northbound Main Street in front of the police cars. walked back inside of his business
garage. After he was back in the garage, he heard the sound of seven or eight gun shots. He
walked back to the parking lot and saw a male subject lying on the ground beside the white
pick-up truck.

On March 11, 2015, at approximately 1300 hours, working on cars at the
business when he saw police cars stopping in the street in front of the business. While in the
garage, he heard the sound of one gun shot. walked out into the driveway of the
business, but could not see the activity on Main Street involving SAPD. He heard the sound of
one gun shot, immediately followed by four or five more gun shots, but did not witness any of
the shooting officers.
On March 11, 2015, at approximately 1300 hours, s working as a
mechanic at the above business. SAPD Detective DIAZ assisted with translation since
only spoke Spanish. was inside the garage working on cars, when he saw police cars
arriving in front of the business on Main Street. He heard police officers yelling commands and
heard the sound of gun shots. He continued to walk in and out of the garage area to the front
driveway. saw a subject lying on the ground next to a pick-up truck stopped in the
roadway. He was unable to tell me how many gun shots he had heard and was not a witness to
the shooting incident.
