LOCATION: 312 SOUTH MAIN STREET, SANTA ANA, CA 92701
On Friday, March 11, 2015, at approximately 1538 hours, Santa Ana Police Investigator
SUMMER BEATLEY and I conducted an interview of at the Mill
Bakery at 312 South Main Street, in Santa Ana, regarding the above officer involved shooting
investigation. The following interview was audio digitally recorded:
was employed at the Mill bakery. Sometime before 1300 hours,
was in the back of the bakery when a customer called out to him and said there was
police activity out front. came to the front of the bakery and saw several police cars
were in front of bakery facing northbound, in the northbound lanes. He saw a male subject
inside a white truck in front of the police cars. He closed the front and back door to the bakery
and continued to watch out the front window. After a few minutes, he saw the male, who was
sitting in the truck, open the door and step out. saw the subject’s face was bloody as
if he was injured. The subject was holding a gun with both of his hands as he exited the vehicle.

saw the subject turn and face the police officers, who were behind him at their
vehicles, pointing the gun towards police officers. could not estimate how far the
subject was from the officers, but pointed to the truck and police cars in front of the bakery to
show where they were at the time of the shooting incident. heard 2-3 gunshots and
saw the subject fall to the ground. described the male as approximately 25 years
old, 5’5”, black hair, wearing a red shirt. saw the officers walk up and move the
subject as if they were checking to see if he was breathing. saw the officers move
the gun away from the suspect and paramedics came in soon after. Investigator BEATLEY
assisted with Spanish translation.
