LOCATION: 312 SOUTH MAIN STREET, SANTA ANA, CA 92701
On Friday, March 11, 2015, at approximately 1551 hours, Santa Ana Police Investigator
SUMMER BEATLEY and I conducted an interview of at the Mill
Bakery at 312 South Main Street, in Santa Ana, regarding the above officer involved shooting
investigation. The following interview was audio digitally recorded:
was a customer inside the Mill bakery at 312 South Main Street. At
approximately 1230 hours, was seated at a window, looking out onto Main Street.
saw police cars with their overhead lights on, stop a white pick-up truck in front of
the bakery on Main Street. saw a sole, male occupant seated in the driver’s seat.
After approximately 5 minutes, the male occupant opened the driver’s door and stepped out of
the truck, facing (west) towards the bakery. saw a cellular telephone in his right
hand. As soon as the subject stepped out of the truck with both feet planted on the ground,
with his hands down by his side, the police shot the subject. heard 3-4 gunshots.

Initially, the subject did not go down and it appeared he was trying to remain standing, but then
he fell to the ground. Two to three minutes later, an ambulance arrived and the subject was
taken away in the ambulance. did not hear the police say anything to the subject
during the incident. Investigator BEATLEY assisted with Spanish translation.
