On April 11, 2023, at approximately 08:55 hours, Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) Detective EDDIE NUNEZ
and I conducted an audio digital recorded interview of MARVIN MELGAREJO as he was in-custody at the Orange
County Global Medical Center (OCGMC) Room #420.
The following is a summary of the interview. It is not verbatim or necessarily in order of the conversation, but
organized for the purpose of clarity. Please refer to the audio recording for exact quotes, comments and statements.
SAPD Detective EDDIE NUNEZ and I contacted MELGAREJO as he was recovering from his injuries at OCGMC.
NUNEZ advised MELGAREJO of his Miranda Rights before any questions were asked. MELGAREJO refused to
provide a statement and requested an attorney. I asked MELGAREJO if he recalled the incident, and the police
being possibly involved. MELGAREJO said he knew the police were involved in the shooting, but he did not want to
elaborate without his attorney present. We concluded or interview with MELGAREJO at this time.
A copy of the interview audio recording was booked into the Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) digital
evidence storage system (DEMS).
