For further, please refer to the original crime report under the same case number. While on scene in the area of an officer involved shooting investigation, I learned that an assault with a deadly weapon (handgun) occurred at 422 S. Shelton. I assisted in this investigation. While on scene I was told by other officers the victim had thrown an unknown object over a fence into a residence in the vicinity. I was directed by Sgt. Kim to check the backyard of . I knocked on the door and it was answered by . I asked him if I could check the back yard and he agreed. He then led me to the backyard. While searching the backyard I observed a black hat upside down in the southwest corner of the yard. I asked if that was his hat, and he said he did not recognize it. I observed the hat to be a black hat with a white ³B´on it. Based on my training and experience in the field of criminal street gangs, I recognize this as a hat commonly worn by the members of the criminal street gang Bishop Street. Officer Biebrich put on gloves and collected the hat as evidence. I maintained custody of the hat and later booked it as evidence. I held the north perimeter of the crime scene until I cleared the scene at 0054 hours. Author: Marignoli, Marco 3858 BWC Activated Santa Ana PD 2023-07973 Report by Marignoli, Marco 3858 2 of 2
