HomeMy WebLinkAboutSupplement Incident 2023-07962.063 Velasco, Robert 3316_RedactedOn May 30, 2023, I was working as a detective assigned to the VICE/Narcotics Unit in the Special Investigations
Division of the Santa Ana Police Department (“SAPD”). All times are approximate.
Around 1:30PM, SAPD Detective Nunez asked me to conduct a forensic examination of a cell phone. He asked me to
extract all available data and submit the findings back to him. He informed me he obtained a signed search warrant
for the mobile device and showed me a copy of the signed search warrant.
I have taken and passed over 40 hours of Cellebrite Mobile Forensics Training. I obtained my Cellebrite Certified
Operator (CCO) Certificate and my Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst (CCPA) Certificate. I have successfully
performed over 300 cellular telephone data extractions.
I brought the cell phone to the Special Investigations Division in the SAPD for the data extraction. I placed it in the
SAPD Special Investigations Cell Phone Locker.
Samsung Galaxy A13 (SM-A135U)
On June 7, 2023, around 4:46PM, I began the examination and extraction process of the cellular telephone. The
phone was a black Samsung Galaxy A13 (SM-A135U). I physically examined the cellular telephone and it was in
good condition.
I connected the cellular telephone to the Graykey forensic device. During my extraction, no other cellular telephone
was connected and it was always in my possession. I performed and completed a Full Filesystem extraction.
On June 8, 2023, around 5:38PM, I examined the data extraction in Cellebrite Physical Analyzer 7.62.0.59 and
reviewed it to ensure that it was captured correctly. I conducted a limited review of the extracted data.
The device had Android 13 installed on it. The IMEI was 358226400727706 and the telephone number was
17148542015.
Any additional review of the extracted data should be conducted at the investigator’s discretion; however, a full
review of the information is still recommended.
On June 14, 2023, around 7:03AM, the contents of that phone were placed in a digital report. I copied the Cellebrite
UFED Extraction Summary and the UFED Reader onto a Blu-ray disc. The UFED Reader is a standalone application,
which allows the requestor to conduct independent analysis of the extracted data.
Evidence
I returned the cell phone to Detective Nunez along with the Blu-ray disc containing the digital report for the Samsung
Galaxy A13.
