The UASI program provides funds to local emergency first responders to enhance security and overall preparedness to prevent, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism. The grant specifically provides funding for training, planning, equipment, exercises, and technical assistance. On December 2, 2025, the City Council approved the FY24 UASI Grant funding, which was utilized to fund various Council-approved projects, including the ReadyOC Emergency Preparedness Campaign, the "If You See Something, Say Something" SafeOC Public Awareness Campaign, portable mobile barriers, regional training and exercises, personnel costs, and the UASI portion of the City's Video Surveillance System. Since the previous approval, the UASI portion of the Video Surveillance System increased by $4,614 from $196,267 to $200,881. The City of Anaheim has allocated the additional $4,614 to compensate for the project increase. If approved, this Council action permits the Police Department to receive and spend the UASI funds from the City of Anaheim.
