DATE AND TIME: DECEMBER 16, 2012 0315-0343 HOURS
LOCATION: SANTA ANA
On the above listed date and time, I conducted an audio digitally recorded interview of
regarding an officer involved shooting involving IGNACIO LEON
JR. and the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD). SAPD Detective ANDY ALVAREZ was also
present during the interview. The interview was conducted primarily in Spanish. It should be
noted that LEON’s nickname is “CHEETOS”, and often referred to him as “CHEETOS”
during the interview. The following is a summary of the interview:

On December 15, 2012, at approximately 1900-2000 hour son, IGNACIO LEON
JR, his girlfriend,and their two year old son came over to visit
At approximately 2030 hour left the apartment to go
to Walmart and Jack-in-the-Box. When they left, LEON stayed at the apartment to change the
oil in his car. When eturned at approximately 2230 hours,
LEON and his car were gone.
call LEON on the phone. She said was angry with
LEON for leaving old LEON to return to the apartment because they had to go home.
A short time later, LEON returned to the apartment. and LEON then left to
go home.
Approximately ten minutes later, returned to the apartment wit
was crying. LEON followe nto the apartment, and he argued
with came out of her room and told LEON to leave because she did not want
any problems in the apartment. LEON continued to argue and became belligerent. ried
to force LEON out of the apartment, but he continued to argue and resist.hen

Approximately 5-10 minutes later, heard LEON banging on the apartment
door and the kitchen window, which is located next to the door. He was demanding to be let
inside. then heard the kitchen window break. A short time later heard a
male voice, which she believed to b yell, “They shot CHEETOS!”

then ran outside, leavin never went outside to see what
had happened.
said she has known LEON for approximately four years. During the time she
has known him, has not heard of LEON having any problems with the police.
However, she believes he has been in prison before. She has never seen him carrying a gun, and
she did not see him with a gun today.
