On the above date and time, I conducted a digital audio recorded interview of University
of California, Irvine Medical Center (UCIMC) Registered Nurse in regard to
the Santa Ana Police Department officer involved shooting incident involving MARCELINO
VALENCIA ALMANZA. The following is a summary of the interview.
On September 9, 2012, at approximately 0046 hours, ALMANZA arrived at UCIMCs
Emergency Room via ambulance. was assigned as his treating nurse and said the
following persons were also involved in caring from ALMANZA:
• Medical Doctor, Attending Trauma Surgeon
• Medical Doctor, Senior Trauma Resident
• Medical Doctor, Attending Emergency Room Physician
• Medical Doctor, Emergency Room Resident
• Registered Nurse, Emergency Room

observed what she described as apparent entrance/exit wound to
ALMANZAs right deltoid area and a laceration to his right flank area. According to ,
attending physicians were concerned with perfusion to ALMANZAs right arm as they were
unable to detect brachial or radial pulses. Additionally, physicians were able to palpate what
they believed may be bullet fragments.
On September 10, 2012, at approximately 0146 hours, ALMANZA was transferred to
Operating Room #16 to undergo surgery due to the lack of blood perfusion to his right arm.
