A woman was shot by police today in an alley in Santa Ana, and died a short time later at a hospital, a police commander
Police opened fire shortly before 8 a.m. in the east alley in the 800 block of South
Townsend Street, where two officers on patrol had confronted the woman, said Santa

“When they confronted the woman an officer-involved shooting occurred,” Paulson
said.

at 8:55 a.m., he said.
“There was a handgun recovered in the alley that did not belong to the police,” the
