HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-021 - Notice of General Municipal Election - Nov. 3, 2026 RESOLUTION NO. 2026-021 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA CALLING FOR AND GIVING NOTICE OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2026, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS AS PROVIDED BY THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE XII OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA WHEREAS, under the provisions of Article XII of the Charter of the City of Santa Ana, a General Municipal Election shall be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 for the election of municipal officers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Article XII of the Charter of the City of Santa Ana, there is called and ordered to be held in the City of Santa Ana, California, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, a General Municipal Election for the purpose of electing a Mayor for the full term of two years, and three Members of the City Council, one member to represent each of the following wards: Ward 2, Ward 4, and Ward 6, each for the full term of four years, Section 2. That the ballots to be used at the election shall be in form and content as required by law. Section 3. That the City Clerk is authorized, instructed, and directed to coordinate with the County of Orange Registrar of Voters to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter, and all supplies, equipment, and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct the election. Section 4. That the vote centers for the election shall be open at seven o'clock a.m. of the day of the election and shall remain open continuously from that time until eight o'clock p.m. of the same day when the vote centers shall be closed, pursuant to Elections Code §10242, except as provided in §§14212, 14401 of the Elections Code of the State of California. Section 5. That in all particulars not recited in this resolution, the election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections. Section 6. That notice of the time and place of holding the election is given and the City Clerk is authorized, instructed, and directed to give further or additional notice of the election in time, form, and manner as required by law. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and the City Clerk shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this Resolution.
