Commissioner Munoz abstained from Minutes of September 24, 2007. B. RECORDING SECRETARY REPORT Pursuant to the Brown Act, the September 24, 2007 Agenda for the Regular Meeting was posted on the door of the City Hall Council Chambers at 22 Civic Center Plaza on September 20, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. RECOMMENDATION: Instruct the Commission Secretary to enter posting into the minutes. COMMISSIONER COMMUNICATION DISCLOSURE (REGARDING AGENDIZED PROJECTS) No disclosures were made. WORK STUDY SESSION E. CONCLUSION OF LANDSCAPE STANDARDS DISCUSSION (Continued by Planning Commission: September 10, 2007 to September 24, 2007; September 24, 2007 to October 8, 2007) Landscape Development Associate Marvin Ellenbecker reviewed the resources used by the Planning Division during review of landscape plans, various sections of the Santa Ana Municipal Code and specific documents having their own set of standards. Commission appointed Commissioners Betancourt and Munoz to the Ad Hoc Committee to review the landscape guidelines, make recommendations, and provide photographic examples for the projects and report back to the Commission. 1. Public Comments (for items not on the agenda) No comments were made. STAFF AND COMMISSION COMMENTS 2. Staff Comments Associate Planner Lucy Linnaus provided an update of the Santa Ana Renaissance Specific Plan, reviewed the timeline for the public outreach efforts and scheduled a discussion for the Planning Commission on November 13, 2007. Mr. Kaufman announced the AB1234 training schedules for the commissioners that have not completed the training. He stated that the training must be completed and the certificate submitted to the Clerk of the Council no later than one year from the date of being sworn into office. Planning Commission Comments Commissioner Gartner • Met with applicant Jamison Luther (Variance Nos. 2007-07 and 2007-08) and provided architectural design photos for his review for the project at 711 Eastside Avenue, Commissioner Betancourt • Received a sketch of a contemporary design for architecture for the project at 711 Eastside Avenue from Commissioner Gartner. Vic Chair De La Torre • Thanked Commissioners for their input regarding the landscaping guidelines. Commissioner Mill • Commented on being educationally enlightened as a representative to the Historic Resources Commission. • Commented on the dedication of the Chepas Park and the pending artwork for the sign. Mr. Mill will forward the sign artwork to the Commissioners. Mr. Kaufman stated approval would be at the Parks & Recreation Board. Commissioner Munoz • Thanked Commission for excusing his absence and looks forward to working with Commissioner Betancourt on the Ad Hoc Committee. Chair Leo • Requested updates on Main Place and Caribou Industries-One Broadway Plaza projects. • Recommended discussion regarding City graffiti programs. 4. Excuse of Absences 5.
