Contract documents call for reconstruction of pavement on St_ Andrews Place between Broadway and Main Street using cement treated base process. Field condition revealed that existing pavement is in better condition. To shorten the construction time and reduce the residents inconvenience, grind and pave the street is recommended_ This change order provides for grinding the street and installing pavement fabric_ Contractor will not be paid the cost for cement treated base process which is considered a net cost saving. Contractor shall be paid according to the actual quantity of work and the agreed unit bid prices. ESTIMATED COST =$'10,296 Project 10707 RFA Change Order No. 1 October 4, 201 O Page 2 B. Under a standing agreement, personnel of the County's material testing laboratory have been providing testing for the City's construction projects for years. They tested sub-grade soil, base material, asphalt concrete pavement, etc. However, due to a reduction in work forces, they were no longer able to provide those tests. The City had a backup testing firm under contract but funds in that contract were mostly expended by previous phases of the residential street repair projects. In order to ensure the work be completed according to the project specifications, City staff requested the contractor to retain the services of the testing firm and this change order is to reimburse the contractor for the costs of these services.
