RECOMMENDATION:
Approve minutes of the regular meeting of December 6, 2007.
B. Commission Secretary Resort
RECOMMENDATION:
Instruct the Commission Secretary to enter into the minutes that pursuant to the
Brown Act, the December 6, 2007 Agenda for the Regular Meeting was posted
on the door of the City Hall Council Chambers at 22 Civic Center Plaza on
November 29, 2007 at 4:11 p.m.

Instruct the Commission Secretary to enter into the minutes that pursuant to the
Brown Act, the January 3, 2008 Cancellation Notice was posted on the door of
the City Hall Council Chambers at 22 Civic Center Plaza on November 29, 2007
at 11:50 a.m.
D. HISTORIC PROPERTY PRESERVATION AGREEMENT NO. 2007-30
' Filed by the City of Santa Ana to execute a historic property preservation
agreement with Michael r. Martinez, Rocio Rendon, and Roberta Rendon for the
structure at 1121 South Van Ness Street (Woodfill House).
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend that the City Council authorize the City manager and clerk of the
Council to execute the attached agreement with Michael r. Martinez, Rocio
Rendon and Roberta Rendon for the structure at 1121 South Van Ness Street,
subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City
Attorney.
E. HISTORIC PROPERTY PRESERVATION AGREEMENT NO. 2008-01
Filed by the City of Santa Ana to execute a historic property preservation
agreement with Siegle Family Trust dated August 12, 1992 for the structure at
2046 North Flower Street (E. Wagner House).
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend that the City Council authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the
Council to execute the attached agreement with Siegle Family Trust dated
August 12, 1992 for the structure at 2046 North Flower Street, subject to non-
substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney.

C. COMMISSIONER COMMUNICATION DISCLOSURE (Regarding Agendized
Pro'ects
Commissioner Seeiey abstained from voting on Item D - 1121 South Van Ness
Street.
WORK STUDY SESSION
F. HOUSING ELEMENT UPDATE
Associate Planner Melanie McCann provided an overview of the Housing
Element Program. A handout was provided highlighting the status of existing
Implementation Actions of the Housing Element as it relates to preserving historic
homes and other structures in Santa Ana.
' Commissioners Dickman, O'Callaghan, and Chinn were appointed to the Ad Hoc
Committee to review Historic Commission's recommendations to the Housing
Element. Commissioners and Staff will review the potential goals and policies
related to historic structures and report back to the Historic Commission on
March 6, 2008.
Commission requested status of the historical structure at 1584 East Santa Clara
Avenue.

Commissioner Stroud
• Announced that the Mabury Neighborhood meeting plans to discuss the
Cabrillo Park/Twist-Basler House.
• Commented that the Redevelopment Housing Commission has not met
due to Zack of quorum.
Commissioner Chinn
• Inquired if City is considering new bronze markers.
• Requested GIS map and updates for new commissioners regarding
historic properties.
• Inquired about the annual historic goals.
• Commented on historical districts and inquired if Floral Park would create
another historical district or change boundaries.
• Requested information on historical signage guidelines.
Commissioner Dickman
• Inquired if portions of the Renaissance area could be made into a historic
district. Mr. Trevino provided information.
Commissioner O'Callaghan
• Commented on historic districts and inquired about guidelines that would
be provided to the property owners.
Chairman Schaefer
• Recommended that commissioners verify the information on the
Commission Roster and notify the Commission Secretary with updates.
• Requested status on Twist-Basler House. Mr. Trevino provided
information.
• Requested schedule of the annual historic goals in March. Mr. Trevino
stated the goals will be scheduled in July.
• Suggested that Commissioners get familiar with potential historic
properties within the Renaissance Plan.
4. Excuse of Absences
Commissioner Dickman motioned to excuse the absence of Commissioner
Bustamante; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Rogers and
unanimously approved by the Commission.
