B. Commission Secretary Report
RECOMMENDATION:
Instruct the Commission Secretary to enter into the minutes that pursuant to the
' Brown Act, the April 7, 2005 Agenda for the Regular Meeting was posted on the
door of the City Hall Council Chambers at 22 Civic Center Plaza on April 4, 2005
at 8:16 a.m.
C. HISTORIC PROPERTY PRESERVATION AGREEI~AENT NO. 2005-01
Filed by the City of Santa Ana to execute an agreement with Oscar and Mary
Catherine Estrada for the structure located at 926 North Olive Street.

Recommend that the City Council direct the City Attorney to prepare and
authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement

E. RECOGNITION OF SERVICE FOR ROSE ANNE GARCIA KINGS
RECOMMENDATION:
Issue a proclamation honoring the service of Rose Anne Garcia Kings to the
Historic Resources Commission.
Chairman Giles presented Rose Anne Garcia Kings with a service proclamation.
F. APPOINT COMMISSIONER FOR TEMPLATE REVIEW COMMITTEE
Michael Seeley was appointed Commissioner for Template Review Committee.
G. APPOINT COMMISSIONER FOR PRESERVATION PLAN AD HOC
COMMITTEE
' Vincent Sarmiento was appointed Commissioner for Preservation Plan Ad Hoc
Committee.
H. AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING HISTORIC PRESF~RVATION PROJECTS
Filed by the City of Santa Ana to recognize outstanding achievement in the areas
of Restoration, Rehabilitation, Merit and Historic Infill Design.
RECOMMENDATION:
Announce the Outstanding Historic Preservation Projects.

achievements. Chairman Giles presented the awards. Award recipients will also
be honored by City Council on June 6, 2005.

RECOMMENDATION:
1. Adopt a resolution approving Historic Resources Commission Application
Nos. 2005-01, 2005-02, 2005-03, 2005-04, and 2005-05.
2. Adopt a resolution approving Historic Register Categorization Nos. 2005-01,
2005-02, 2005-03, 2005-04 and 2005-05.
Assistant Planner, Hally Soboleske presented the staff report and
recommendation.
The public hearing was opened. No one spoke, thus the public hearing was
closed.
Commissioner Schaefer provided a February 1930 picture showing the property
at 1904 North Flower Street to be the first and only house on the street. He
proposed that the residence be listed as Landmark. Architectural Historian,
Leslie Heumann concurred with the revised classification. City staff requested
continuance to the June 2 Commission meeting to research and confirm the
findings. Additionally, Chair Giles suggested that since Stephen and Karen
Amsler have occupied the house since 1986, it would be appropriate to
hyphenate the name of the structure to Van Horn -Amsler House.
MOTION:
1. Adopt a resolution approving Historic Resources Commission Application
Nos. 2005-01, 2005-02, 2005-04, and 2005-05.
2. Recommendation to change structure name to Price-Preston House for
property at 2009-North Baker Street (HRCAIHRC 2005-0412005-04).
3. Proposed changing Recommended Category from Key to Landmark for the
property at 1904 North Flower Street (Van Horne House) HRCAIHRC 2005-
0312005-03). Granted 30-day continuance to June 2, 2005 public hearing.
4. Adopt a resolution approving Historic Register Categorization Nos. 2005-
01, 2005-02, 2005-04 and 2005-05.
