RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the Authority General Counsel to prepare and authorize the
Executive Director to execute an agreement between the Housing Authority
of the City of Santa Ana and National Credit Reporting with compensation
not to exceed $18,000.
COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING COMMISSION RECOMN~NDATION
At its Regular Meeting of September 5, 2007, by a vote of 7:0, the
Community Redevelopment and Housing Commission recommended that the
Housing Authority direct the Authority General Counsel to prepare and
authorize the Executive Director to execute an agreement between the
Housing Authority of the City of Santa Ana and National Credit Reporting
with compensation not to exceed $18,000.
DISCUSSION
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Choice
Veucher rental assistance program depends upon complete and accurate
disclosure of clients' income sources, expenses, and criminal history.
HUD requires Housing Authorities to screen all applicants for drug-
related and violent criminal activity, and for- lifetime Sex Offender
registration. National Credit Reporting has a proven history with the
Housing Authority and has provided reliable information in a timely
manner and at a competitive cast via their web-based service. National
Credit Reporting's performance and rates were compared wzth two other
vendors, National Tenant Network and American Tenant Screening. Neither
offered the price nor timeliness of reporting as National Credit
Reporting.
