COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION At its Regular Meeting of October 16, 2007, by a vote of 4:0 (Pedroza, Turner absent), the Community Redevelopment and Housing Commission recommended that the Housing Authority direct the Authority General Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive Director and the Secretary of the Authority to execute an amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Gounty of Orange Social Services Agency. DISCUSSION In 1992 the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Ana (SAHA) applied and received from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) an allocation of certificates dedicated for the Family Unification Program. The l;amily Unification Program is a specific program within the Housing Choice Voucher Program. In order for families to be eligible for this program, they must meet the SAHA eligibility criteria and the local welfare agency must refer and certify that the lack of adequate housing is a primary reason that the family's child/children may be placed in out-of-home care or prevented from returning to the family from out-of- home care. Phis program also serves youth who are at least 18 and not more than 21 years of age who left foster care at age 18 or alder and who Amendment to the MOU with the County Of Orange Social Services Agency November 5, 2007 Page 2 do not have adequate housing. These youth must also be referred by the Social Services Agency. The MOU contains program content and specific guidelines for the implementation and administration of the Family Unification Program. The amendment of the MOU is for a term of two years.
