Ms. Robyn Uptegraff, Executive Director, introduced herself and staff and welcomed
the new Commissioners. She informed the Commissioners that they were the first
board to be created by the City Council in approximately 15 years.
The Historic Resources Commissioners introduced 'themselves and gave a brief
individual biography.
Councilman Richardson welcomed the Commissioners. He shared that the City
Council established the Commission to ensure that the community's historic resources
are valued and protected for future generations. He challenged the Commission to
balance the sometimes competing interests of eco omit feasibility and historic
preservation.

Ms. Linda Tatum, Senior Planner, introduced herself d presented an overview of
activities related to historic preservation in the last decade,

Mr. Joseph Edwards, Principal Planner, introduced himself and briefly described the
responsibilities delegated by the City Council to the Histor1ic Resources Commission.

Mr. Kenneth Adams, Planning Manager, discussed the roles and responsibilities of both
staff and the Historic Resources Commission. He informed the Commission that their
primary responsibility was to provide policy direction. Staff responsibilities rest
primarily in researching and assessing issues as directed by the Commission and in
making recommendations to the Commission,

Mr. Gary Sheatz, Assistant City Attorney, discussed ith the Commission the rules of
order, protocol of meetings, Brown Act, roles of the Ch ir, and conflicts of interest.
8. Packet discussion.
Ms. Sharon Johnson, Historic Resources Commissior} Secretary, discussed with the
Commission her responsibilities to the Commission and the contents of the informational
manual provided.
9. Questions/Answer session.
Several members of the Commission requested that the meeting date and time be
modified. It was unanimously agreed upon to modify the date to the second Wednesday
of each month and the meeting time would be at 4:30 p.m.
Commissioner Marsh requested that a listing of Santa Ana properties listed on the
National Register of Historical properties be distributed to the Commission.
