Direct the Authority General Counsel to prepare and authorize the
Executive Director to execute an agreement between the Housing Authority
of the City of Santa Ana and National Credit Reporting with compensation
not to exceed $25,000.
COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION
Recommended that the Housing Authority direct the Authority General
Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive Director to execute an
agreement between the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Ana and
National Credit Reporting with compensation not to exceed $25,000.
By a vote of 6:0 (Yanez absent) at its Regular Meeting of June 20, 2006.
DISCUSSION
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Choice
Voucher rental assistance program depends upon complete and accurate
disclosure of clients' income sources, expenses, and criminal history.
HUD requires local Housing Authorities to screen all applicants for drug-
related and violent criminal activity and for lifetime Sex Offender
registration. National Credit Reporting has a proven history with the
Housing Authority and has provided reliable information in a timely
manner via its web -based service at a competitive cost.

The Authority is requesting that an agreement, with compensation not to
exceed $25,000, be authorized to ensure the Authority's compliance with
federal regulations in screening applicants during the 2006-07 fiscal
year.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the FY 2006-07 Assisted Housing and HOPWA Other
Contractual Services accounts (accounts no. 140-133-6291 and 405-140-
6291) .
