Transportation Planning Grant Program through the California Department of Transportation,
Division of Transportation Planning.
DISCUSSION
The State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) issued a call for Community-
Based Transportation Planning (CBTP) project applications for Fiscal year 2011-2012. CBTP is
a State-funded program which provides funds for projects that integrate transportation, land-use
planning, and community values to support livable communities. This program is administered
by the Office of Community Planning in Caltrans Division of Transportation Planning.
In response to this call, staff is requesting authorization to prepare and submit a grant
application to support the City's transportation and mobility goals. The grant application will
focus on preparing a bikeway and pedestrian plan. The resolution authorizing the request for
funding is required as part of the application. The application deadline is March 30, 2011.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Per Section 15061(b)(3) of the California Environmental Quality Act, this action is exempt from
