Award a contract for the purchase of ammunition for a total aggregate amount not to exceed
$98,500 as follows:

DISCUSSION
The Santa Ana Police Department provides ammunition to its sworn officers, primarily for use
during training and range qualification testing. Officers are required to re-qualify regularly to
maintain proficiency in the use of firearms. The contract for ammunition is designed to provide
quality products at a significant savings based on quantity pricing.
The notice inviting bids was advertised on January 18, 2012, and bids were solicited. A summary
of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows:

Bids were received and opened on January 30, 2012 (Exhibit 1). Vendors were provided the
opportunity to bid on 13 types of ammunition. None of the respondents bid on all 13 items
contained in the invitation. The bids received from Dooley Enterprises Inc., San Diego Police
Equipment, Grace Ammo, LLC and Adamson Police Products are responsive to the
specifications and meets the Police Department's requirements.

Funds for this purchase are available in the Police Training Services Operating Materials &
Supplies account (no. 01114410-63001) and the Police Traffic Miscellaneous Operating
Expenses account (no. 01114405-63001).
