Set Public Hearing For_ CONTINUED TO FILE NUMBER Award contracts for chemicals for a one-year period, with provision for three, one-year renewals in the annual amounts as follows: Vendor Location: Amount: Crop Production Services Santa Ana $55,000 Waterline Technologies Santa Ana $87,000 DISCUSSION Both the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency and The Public Works Agency require herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers to control and eradicate weeds and insects to sustain abundant plant growth and to maintain healthy trees. Chemicals such as hydrochloric acid and sodium hypochlorite are required to disinfect public swimming pools, water fountains, sewer system, and water wells throughout the City. The chemicals are purchased through the Central Stores warehouse for distribution to the agencies. The contracts are designed to provide quality products at significant savings based on quantity pricing. The notice inviting bids was advertised on January 31, 2012, and bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: 7 Invitations For Bid mailed 4 Invitations For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors 9 Bids received 3 Bids received from Santa Ana vendors 22E-1 Contracts Award for Chemicals - Soil, Plant, and Water Treatment March 19, 2012 Page 2 Bids were received and opened on February 15, 2012 and evaluated (Exhibit 1). The bids received from Crop Production Services and Waterline Technologies, Inc., both Santa Ana vendors are responsive to the specifications in their respective categories and meet the City's requirements. The annual amounts are based on past usage and staff's projection for the next year. FISCAL IMPACT Funds are available in the various departmental Miscellaneous Operating Expenses (account 63001).
