Direct the Agency General Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive
Director to execute an agreement with Sign Source for an additional
amount not to exceed $15,000 to construct and install new pedestrian
directional signs in the Artists Village.
COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION
Recommended that the Community Redevelopment Agency direct the Agency
General Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive Director to
execute an agreement with Sign Source for an additional amount not to
exceed $15,000 to construct and install new pedestrian directional signs
in the Artists Village.
By a vote of 5:0 (Betancourt and Bustamante absent) at its Regular
Meeting of August 3, 2004.
DISCUSSION
Sign Source has installed new pedestrian directional signs in the Artists
Village. The original contract included three freestanding "You are
Here" signs with maps, one freestanding directional sign to the Artists
Village, and three "Artists Village Parking" signs on the Third and Birch
parking structure. This original contract was for an amount not to
exceed $50,000. Due to some unforeseen changes in the sign locations,
additional design and engineering costs were incurred. It is recommended

that an agreement with Sign Source in an amount not to exceed $15,000 be
executed to cover these modifications and unanticipated costs.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for the contract are available in the Central City Capital Projects
Fund account (account no. 510- 936 -6291, project no. 7172).
