Direct the Agency General Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive
Director to execute a License Agreement with the Bowers Museum
Corporation for Operation of The Children's Museum Center ( Kidseum).
DISCUSSION
In January 1994 the Redevelopment Agency authorized the acquisition of
property for the Children's Museum Center. The License Agreement entered
into on June 20, 1994, for the occupancy and use of the premise has
expired. Kidseum is a multi -use, comprehensive environment for learning
which addresses the needs of the community. The primary focus is pre-
school and early primary age children. Current programs consist of
music, art and storytelling. Hours of operation are concurrent with the
Bowers Museum.
The facility will also be used for Scout merit -badge classes and "Bridges
to Understanding" computer labs. In addition, space will be available
for docent training, teacher workshops, and public meetings. The
proposed agreement will have a 10 -year term.
