After having had the opportunity to meet with city staff to examining the varying positions and provide industry feedback, we are happy to have reached agreement on the current items of concern, specifically the adjustment of the annual rental housing inspection per unit fee. With our support, city staff recommends a $2.00 increase in the total PREP inspection fee which includes all city costs. As well, the matter of future PREP fee adjustments being benchmarked to the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) will be tabled until a citywide comprehensive department fee study is completed. We believe these changes are reasonable and necessary. The Apartment Association of Orange County therefore supports the staff recommendation. For over 25 years, the Santa Ana Proactive Rental Enforcement Program has served a valuable role in ensuring that all residential rental properties in Santa Ana be maintained in full compliance with the applicable provisions of the Santa Ana Municipal Code, the various California Codes and the State of California Health and Safety Code. The Apartment Association of Orange County is proud to have helped start this program. We remain partners to this day.
