MOTION: Approve minutes of the special meeting held on January 28, 2016.
*Commissioners Coolidge and Schaefer abstained on Agenda Item B due to their
absence at the previous Commission meeting.
C. 2014-2015 CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT ANNUAL REPORT
MOTION: Receive and file 2014-2015 Certified Local Government Annual Report
to the office of Historic Preservation.

WORK STUDY SESSION
1. HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION TRAINING
Associate Planner Hally Soboleske provided a Power Point Presentation on Santa Ana
Architectural Styles and described the different types of styles of historic homes and
buildings.

Verny Carvajal
• Introduced new Senior Planner Jill Arabe who came from the City of Huntington
Beach with expertise in urban design.
4. HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION COMMENTS
Commissioner Hitterdale
• Thanked Ms. Soboleske for her presentation noting it was very helpful and
interesting.
Commissioner Coolidge
• Thanked Ms. Soboleske for her presentation.
• Noted the Downtown Santa Ana Farmers Market will reopen on Sunday, April 17
from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Commissioner Schaefer
• Thanked Ms. Soboleske for her thorough look at housing styles.

• Noted the Floral Park Home & Garden Tour on April 23 & 24 and the West Floral
Park Open Garden Day on May 14.
Chairperson Tardif
• Thanked Ms. Soboleske and staff for the informative presentation.
Commissioner Garcia
• Inquired if training is on the city web site. Ms. Soboleske answered it is on the city's
web site under Planning Forms & Applications under "Design Guidelines".
Commissioner Murashie
• Thanked Ms. Soboleske for the presentation.
• Welcomed Ms. Arabe.
• Noted it was great to see Mr. Haghani at the Celebrate Santa Ana event on April 6.
• Noted the perks of being a docent at the Floral Park Home & Garden Tour.
Chairperson Christy
• Welcomed and thanked Ms. Barela for taking minutes.
• Noted she attended the Celebrate Santa Ana Community Building Awards at the
Santa Ana College noting it was a tremendous success adding there were 13
recipients honored and first Legacy Award to Dr. Erlinda Martinez, and other award
to Executive Director of the Heritage Museum, Kevin Cabrera.
ADJOURNED 5:13 P.M. — The next regular scheduled meeting of the Historic Resources
Commission is scheduled for Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. in the
Council Chamber, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California.
