Adopt a resolution authorizing the Executive Director of the Parks, Recreation, and Community
Services Agency to submit applications for California Department of Resources Recycling and
Recovery (CalRecycle) grant programs to support the City of Santa Ana's illegal disposal site
abatement efforts.
DISCUSSION
California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) offers funding
opportunities that can assist local government entities in the furtherance of the State of
California's efforts to reduce, recycle and reuse solid waste generated in the state thereby
preserving landfill capacity and protecting public health and safety, and the environment. This
funding provides for the implementation of programming that supports illegal disposal site
abatement.
CalRecycle requires a resolution approving submission of the City's applications for Illegal
Disposal Site Abatement Grant funds. The resolution, which is effective for a period of five
years, authorizes the City of Santa Ana to submit applications, and authorizes the Executive
Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services, or his /her designee, to execute the
necessary applications and documents to implement and secure payment of these State funds.
STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 — Community Health, Livability,
Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #2 (expand opportunities for conservation and
environmental sustainability).
