Dear City Council Members:
I urge you to support Police Chief Carlos Rojas in his decision to fire the police officers for their actions and
disgraceful behaviors in the May 2015 raid of Sky High Holistic. Via the tape made available we witnessed the
officers dismantling security cameras, foul language, playing darts, inappropriate jokes aimed at a woman in a
wheel chair, and the consumption of products sold at the marijuana dispensary. These behaviors demonstrated a
profound lack of ethics, integrity, appropriate decision malting, and the absence of handling the raid
professionally and seriously. These actions merited firing from their jobs as police officers.
These police officers have disgraced their positions, the SAPD, and do not have the community trust.
Chief Carlos Rojas's decision made these officers accountable for their horrific actions.
It is very unfortunate that the City's Personnel Board overturned the firing of Brandon Sontag. It is
your responsibility as our elected officials to appeal the Board's decision in Superior Court. The City
promotes accountability and transparency. This is exactly what Chief Carlos Rojas did in his decision
to fire the officers. No one is above the law, and firing was in order for the behaviors and acts
committed.
As our elected officials, you have the responsibility to demonstrate accountability and transparency in
government. Support Police Chief Carlos Rojas and our Santa Ana Community. Move forward and
appeal the Board's decision.
Most respectfully,
Susana C. Sandoval
