Staff has amended the proposed ordinanceafter further  review and consideration, Ensuring public health and safety.  The following items may be maintained or modified per  Council Direction Adopt an ordinance to repeal existing mobile food vehicle regulations  in the SAMC and replace them with new regulations. Adopt an ordinance to repeal existing mobile food vehicle regulations  in the SAMC. 2 PROPOSED REVISIONS DISTANCING CONCERNS Revised prohibition of vending within 50 feet of a marked or  unmarked crosswalk in an intersection. Option 2 -Maintain the initial 100 feet prohibition  Prohibits vending where posted speed limit is 35 miles per  hour or greater. Based on Safe Mobility Study –Findings  Option 2 --Proposes restriction of vending in streets posted to be  within 40mph and not 35mph. Prohibits vending within 250 feet of any school, park,  community center or playground facility. Option 2 --Maintain the initial 500 feet recommendation.  3 PROPOSED REVISIONS STATE LAW/COUNTY HEALTH COMPATIBILITY Revised sign requirements to reflect brick & mortar sign  standards Revised wording to clarify concern regarding restocking in public  right of way and adherence with the California Food Retail Code. Vendors –Fearful that they would not be allowed to re-stock their items.  Removed wording requiring access to approved sanitation/  bathroom. Option 2–Maintain initial recommendation.  4 PENDING ITEMS Food Vending Zones  Discuss through city-wide general plan amendment  Mobile Vending Sites  Vending Station Improvements in Public Right of Way  Provide Environmental-friendly options  Provide alternatives to generators  Solar –Electrical access  Electrical outlets in Public-Right-Way  5 6
