Dear Mayor Pulido and Members of the City Council,
I would like to write to you and the council in support of our Santa Ana Zoo/Santa Ana Zoo
master plan. I feel that our zoo is an asset to our community and benefits us as a zoo with
tourism dollars and a return on investment to our economy.
My understanding the Santa Ana Zoo hosts more than 270,000 people annually. This does
enhance our economic development and tourism for Santa Ana. A recent study
commission by the association of zoos and aquariums states that zoos across America are
economic generators for communities.
I would also like to point out that the friends of the zoo has a commitment to support for
long term sustainability of the zoo and also has a positive collaboration with the city. The
zoo also has a continued commitment to conservation and sustainability of earth and
animals through growing education programs for: Santa Ana, Orange County, and
Southern California.
Finally I believe that our zoo is an overall asset for our community and appreciate your
continued support of the zoo and its program.
