ORDINANCE NS-851 ~ENDING THE SANTA ANA <br />MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING NEW SECTIONS TO <br />PART 2, CHAPTER 1, OF ARTICLE IV TO <br />REGULATE THE KEEPING OF WILD ANIMALS WITHIN <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That Part 2, Chapter 1, of Article IV of the Santa Aha <br />Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding thereto Sections 4124. and <br />4124.1 immediately following Section 4123.4 in words and figures as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Section 4124. Wild Animal Defined. <br /> <br /> The term "wild animal" shall be construed to mean and include <br />any animal, reptile or fowl which is not naturally tame or gentle <br />but is of a wild nature or disposition or which is known to be <br />vicious and which must be ketYcin confinement to be brought <br />within the immediate power of the owner. <br /> <br />Section 4124.1 Wild Animals Not Permitted in City: Exceptions. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to keep or maintain, or <br />cause to be kept or maintained, within the City of Santa Ana any <br />wild animal as described in Section 4124. <br /> <br /> The provisions of this Section shall not prohibit the keeping <br />or maintaining of the following wild animals within the City of <br />Santa Aha: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Wild animals in zoos or museums--any wild animals <br />which are kept confined in zoos, museums, or any <br />other place where they are kept as live specimens <br />for the public to view. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Wild animals in circuses, carnivals, exhibits or <br />shows--any wild animals which are kept and confined <br />and placed on exhibit in a circus, carnival, or <br />any other type of exhibit or show. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />Wild animals in bona fide, licensed veterinary <br />hospitals for treatment. <br /> <br /> Dangerous or poisonous reptiles may be maintained by bona fide <br />educational institutions for the purpose of instruction provided <br />such reptiles are securely confined and are properly cared for in <br />a manner satisfactory to the Chief of Police. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That this Ordinance shall take effect thirty days <br />from and after the date of its adoption. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha <br />at its adjourned regular meeting held on the 25th day of October, 1966. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />VICE MAYOR <br /> <br /> <br />
