ORDINANCE NS-1076 AMENDING SECTION 4 <br />OF ORDINANCE NS-1066 BY EXTENDING THE <br />HOURS DURING W~ICH THE POLLS SHALL BE <br />OPEN IN THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br />IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ON THE 6TH DAY <br />OF APRIL, 1971, FROM 7:00 A.M. UNTIL <br />8:00 P.M. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Santa Ana Charter Sections 1200 et seq. <br /> <br />deal with the subject of elections and said Charter adopts <br /> <br />by reference the Election Code of the State of California; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to said Election Code, Santa Ana <br />Municipal Ordinance NS-1066 was adopted by this Council on <br />February 1, 1971, providing in part that the election polls <br />were to remain open from 7:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Clerk of the Council, pursuant to authority <br />vested in her, contracted with the Orange County Registrar of <br />voters to perform certain services for the City in the conduct <br />of its election; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said Registrar by inadvertent error sent out <br />notices to the electorate of the City notifying them, among <br />other things, that the polls would be open from 7:00 A.M. until <br />8:00 P.M.; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is insufficient time to rectify the error <br />and cause appropriate notices to be sent out; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That SECTION 4 of Ordinance NS-1066 is repealed <br />and in its place the following section is adopted: <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: That said Election shall he held and <br /> conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Charter <br /> of the City of Santa Ana, the Constitution of the State of <br /> California, and the provisions of the Elections Code of the <br /> State of California insofar as the same may be applicable <br /> thereto. On the day of the Election the polls shall be opened <br /> at 7:00 A.M. and shall be kept open until 8:00 P.M., at which <br /> time the polls shall be closed. The Clerk of the Council <br /> shall prepare and cause to be published a NOTICE OF ELECTION <br /> for one time; a list of names of the nominees in the order <br /> in which they will appear on the Ballot and the respective <br /> offices for which they are nominated once a week for two <br /> successive weeks, at least 5 intervening days between the <br /> dates of publication; and a notice of election officers and <br /> polling places for one time. <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
