ORDINANCE NS-1192 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA AMENDING SECTION 22-5 (c) (d) <br />AND (k) OF CHAPTER 22 OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL <br />CODE INVOLVING MASSAGE ESTABLISHMENTS. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />That Section 22-5 (c), (d), and (k) of the Santa Ana Municipal <br />Code, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 22-5 (c): <br /> <br />Written statements from at least five (5) adults listing the <br />adults' name, address, and phone number, and stating that the appli- <br />cant is of good moral character: <br /> <br />Section 22-5 (d): <br /> <br />Written proof that the applicant is over the age of eighteen (18) <br />years: <br /> <br />Section 22-5 (k): <br /> <br />Applicant must furnish a diploma or certificate of graduation from <br />a recognized school or other institution of learning wherein the <br />method, profession, and work of massage technician is taught. <br /> <br />The term "recognized school" shall mean and include any school and <br />institution of learning which has for its purpose and teaching the <br />the theory, method, profession or work of massage technicians, which <br />school is approved by the State Superintendent of Public Instruc- <br />tion and complies with the minimum hours of study and length of <br />curriculum as established by the State Department of Education Bureau <br />of School Approvals, or can show current membership in good standing <br />in the California Massage Technician's Association or the American <br />Massage Therapy Association. Schools offering a correspondence <br />course not requiring actual attendance of class shall not be deemed <br />a "recognized school". The City of Santa Ana shall have a right to <br />confirm the fact that the applicant has actually attended classes in <br />a recognized school for aforementioned minimum time periods. <br /> <br />Section 2: <br /> <br />If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of <br />this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitu- <br />tional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such <br />decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of <br />this ordinance. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby <br />declares that it would have adopted this ordinance and each section, <br />subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion thereof irrespective <br />of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, clauses, <br />phrases or portions be <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
