FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO <br />GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2018-16 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION <br />NO. 2017-50 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />1110 WEST SIXTEENTH STREET, SANTA ANA, ON THE <br />HISTORICAL REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC <br />REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO. 2017-49 PLACING <br />SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE KEY CATEGORY <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. On May 24, 2018 the Historic Resources Commission held a duly noticed <br />public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. 2017-50) and <br />categorization (Historic Resources Commission Categorization No. 2017- <br />49) of the Frank House located at 1110 West Sixteenth Street, Santa Ana. <br />B. The Frank House has distinctive architectural features of the Ranch style, <br />and was built in 1954 by George M. Holstein & Sons. <br />C. This home qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties and is eligible for categorization as "Key". The Frank House <br />qualifies for listing in the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties under <br />Criterion 1 for its exemplification of the distinguishing characteristics of the <br />Ranch style, and under Criterion 2 for being the work of a notable <br />designer and architect. Additionally, the house has been categorized as <br />"Key" because it "contributes to the overall character and history" of the <br />Washington Square neighborhood and "is a unique example of period <br />architecture," representing the Ranch style in Santa Ana (Santa Ana <br />Municipal Code, Section 30-2.2). Character -defining features of the Frank <br />House that should be preserved include, but may not be limited to: <br />materials and finishes (vertical wood siding); roof configuration, materials, <br />and treatment (wood shake shingles and brick chimney); massing and <br />composition; fenestration (multi -light single hung windows); and <br />architectural detailing (dormers, wood shutters). <br />D.
