LAR 3/2/21 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2021-010 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA ACCEPTING THE 2021 NATIONAL FITNESS <br />CAMPAIGN GRANT OF $30,000 PER SITE AND <br />AGREEING TO ENDEAVOR TO PROVIDE $109,065 PER <br />EACH SITE TO FUND THE REMAINING PURCHASE <br />PRICE OF THE EQUIPMENT AND INSTALLATION OF THE <br />FITNESS EQUIPMENT AT THREE CITY PARKS <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br />A. In 2021, the National Fitness Campaign offered grants to Cities or Colleges to <br />install an outdoor Fitness Court®, in public parks for use by the public at no <br />cost. <br />B. The City's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency submitted an <br />application for the 2021 National Fitness Campaign grant funds and was <br />selected as a recipient of the grant for three City owned sites. <br />C. The 2021 National Fitness Campaign grant is $30,000 per site for a total of <br />$90,000 for the three sites. The total cost for the purchase of the outdoor <br />Fitness Court® equipment at three City parks (Thornton Park, Lillie King Park, <br />and Heritage Park) is $139,065 per site for a total of $417,195. The $30,000 <br />grant per site operates as a credit toward the total purchase price of the <br />Fitness Court®. The City will need to obtain funding to complete the <br />installation of the three outdoor Fitness Court® locations. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes the <br />City Manager or her designee, on terms acceptable to the City Attorney, to execute any <br />documents that are necessary to accept the 2021 National Fitness Campaign $30,000 <br />grant funds per site (three sites total) for the outdoor Fitness Court® equipment; <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby agrees to <br />endeavor to secure funding for the remaining $109,065 per site, for a total of $327,195, <br />to purchase the outdoor Fitness Court® at three City sites; <br />Section 4. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana will endeavor to construct <br />and launch the outdoor Fitness Court® by the end of the 2020-2021 fiscal year, <br />contingent upon funding; and <br />Resolution No. 2021-010 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
