Oi~DINANCE NO. NS-238 .~NDING <br />CERTAIN SECTIONS OF TME UNIFORM <br />BUILDING CODE, 1955 EDITION <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. That those sections of the Uniform ~uilding Code, <br />1955 Edition, adopted by Ordinance No. NS-147al~$ hereby amended in <br /> <br />those particulars only as next heretnbelow set out. <br /> <br />(a) The first paragraph of subdivision (c) of Section 301 is here- <br /> <br />by amended Ko read as follows: <br /> <br />.(c) <br /> <br />Plans and SDecifications. With each application <br />for a building permit, and when required by the <br />Building Official for enforcement of any pro- <br />visions of this Code, two sets of plans and <br />specifications shall be submitted. The Building <br />Official may require Plans and Specifications to <br />be prepared and designed by an engineer or <br />architect licensed by the State to practice as <br />such." <br /> <br />(b) Paragraph 9 of Section 402 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />"ASSEMBLY BUILDING is a building used, in whole or <br /> in part, for the gaShering together of ~rsons for <br /> such purposes as deliberation, worship, entertair~ment, <br /> amusement, or awaiting transportation and restaurants <br /> with an occupant load over 200." <br /> <br />Exception~l of SectiOn 507 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> EXCEPTIONS: 1. <br /> ~Towers, spires and steeples, erected or a part of <br /> a building and not used for habitation or storage, <br /> are limited as to height only by structural design <br /> if completely of'uncombusti~le materials, or may <br /> extend not to exceed twenty feet (20') above the <br /> height limit in Table No. 5D if of combustible <br /> materials. ~ <br /> <br />(d) Division 2 of Section ll01 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"DIVISION 2. Wholesale and retail stores, office <br />buildings, restaurants, undertaking parlors, <br />printing plants, municipal police and fire stations, <br />factories and workshops using materials not highly <br />flammable or combustible, storage and sales rooms <br />for combustible goods, paint stores without bulk <br />handling. (See Section 402 under assembly buildin~s <br />for a definition of restaurants with an occupant <br />load over 200). <br /> <br />(e) That the second paragraph, subdivision (a) of Section 1405 is <br /> <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"The window area in bathrooms, water-closet compartments, <br /> and other similar rooms shall be not less than three <br /> square feet (3 sq. ft.), and may open on a vent shaft <br /> which has a least dimension open and unobstructed to <br /> the sky of not less than three feet (3'). In lieu <br /> of the foregoing requirement a mechanical ventilation <br /> system capable of producing a change of air every five <br /> 1. <br /> <br /> <br />
