ORDINANCE NO. NS-638 PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING <br />OF A GENERAL MUNiCIPA~ ELECTION IN THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, ON THE 2ND DAY OF APRIL, <br />1963, FOR THE ELECTION OF TWO MEMBERS OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL, TWO MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF <br />EDUCATION, AND FOR VOTING ON CERTAIN PROPOSITIONS <br />PROPOSING AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF SAID CITY, <br />GIVING NOTICE OF SAID ELECTION, DESIGNATING <br />POLLING PLACES, HOURS DURING WHICH THE POLLS <br />SHALL BE OPENED AND APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS <br />TO SERVE AT SAID ELECTION <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That a General Municipal Election is hereby called <br />to be held in the City of Santa Aha, California, on April 2nd, 1963. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That there shall be 108 voting precincts, 107 of <br />which shall be within the territorial limits of the City of Santa Ana <br />and shall consist of a consolidation of two or more State and County <br />precincts, except Precinct No. 97 which contains one State and County <br />precinct only. Precinct No. 24 shall consist of two State and County <br />precincts and of School District territory which lies Outside of the <br />City Limits of the City of Santa Ana for the purpose of voting only <br />on two members of the Board of Education. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: That the Precinct Board of each precinct shall <br />consist of one Inspector, one Judge, and two Clerks; and that said <br />Precinct Officers shall receive the following compensation for their <br />services: Inspectors, $21.00; Judges and Clerks, $18.00; o~rners of <br />privately owned polling places shall receive the sum of $10.00 for <br />the use of each polling place. <br /> <br /> That the consolidated voting precincts, the polling places <br />thereof, and the Precinct Board for each such precinct shall be as set <br />out on that certain document headed "ELECTION OFFICERS AND POLLING <br />PLACES" on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council, and the <br />Boards of each such voting precinct are hereby appointed. The Clerk <br />of the Council is hereby authorized to find and appoint substitutes <br />for any election officer hereby appointed who is unable or unwilling <br />to act. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: That said Election shall be held and conducted in <br />accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Santa <br />Ana, the Constitution of the State of California, and the provisions <br />of the Elections Code of the State of California insofar as the same <br />may be applicable thereto. On the day of the Election the polls shall <br />be opened at 7:00 A.M. and shall be kept opened until 7:00 P.M., at <br />which time the polls shall be closed. The Clerk of the Council shall <br />prepare and cause to be published a NOTICE OF ELECTION for one time~ <br />a list of names of the nominees in the order in which they will appear <br />on the Ballot and the respective offices for which they are nominated <br />once a week for two successive weeks,at least 5 intervening days <br />between the dates of publication; the sections of the Charter of the <br />city of Santa Ana to be submitted to the voters as they are proposed <br />to be changed on one day before the Election; a synopsis of the <br />measures to be voted on once a week for two successive weeks, at least <br />5 intervening days between the dates of publication; a notice that <br />copies of the sections of the Charter of the City of Santa Ana proposed <br />to be amended at said Election may be obtained in the office of the <br />Clerk of the Council each day until the day of the election; and a <br />a notice of election officers and polling places for one time before <br />March 13, 1963. <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
