ORDINANCE NS-715 ADDING SECTIONS 4275.2 AND <br />4275.3 TO PART 7, CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE IV OF <br />THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE MAKING THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA A BIRD SANCTUARY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, wild birds have great economic value in the <br />destruction of insect and worm pests and afford varied and <br />continually changing opportunity for observation of nature's <br />most interesting species and should be protected for the benefit <br />and enjoyment of the citizens of our City. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That a new section nUmbered 4275.2 is hereby <br />added to the Santa Ana Municipal Code to read in words and figures <br />as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 4275.2. Molesting Birds and Bird Eggs <br /> Prohibited. <br /> No person shall shoot any species of wild birds within <br />the City and no person shall molest or damage the nest or <br />the eggs of any wild birds within the City. However, if <br />the City Council, the Chief of Police or the Animal <br />Control Man shall determine that starlings or other birds <br />have become so nUmerous in any particular location or <br />area as to be a public nuisance or for any other reason <br />have become a public nuisance or a menace to health or <br />property, said fact may be declared and the birds involved <br />may be destroyed or otherwise controlled. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That a new section numbered 4275.3 is hereby <br />added to the Santa Ana Municipal code to read in words and figures <br />as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 4275.3. Santa Aha a Bird Sanctuary. <br /> The City of Santa Ana is hereby designated a bird <br />sanctuary and signs bearing the legend "SANTA ANA IS A <br />BIRD SANCTUARY" shall be placed at appropriate locations <br />at or near the City Limits at principal entrances to the <br />City. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: That this Ordinance shall take effect thirty days <br />from and after the date of its adoption. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana at its regular meeting held on the l?th day of .February , 1964. <br /> <br />ATT~ST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br /> I, DORIS M.
