ORDINANCE NS-956 PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A <br />GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, <br />CALIFORiqIA, ON THE 1ST DAY OF APRIL, 1969 FOR THE <br />ELECTION OF FOUR MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND <br />FOUR MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, GIVING <br />NOTICE OF SAID ELECTION, DESIGNATING POLLING PLACES, <br />HOURS DURING WHICH THE POLLS SHALL BE OPEN, Ai~D <br />APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS TO SERVE AT SAID <br />ELECTION <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That a general Municipal Election is hereby <br />called to be held in the City of Santa Ana, California, on April <br />1969. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That there shall be 66 voting precincts, several <br />of which are single State and County precincts renumbered for said <br />Election and the rest of which consist of consolidations of two or <br />more State and County precincts, all consisting of territory within <br />the City of Santa Ana except Precinct No. 56, which includes territory <br />outside of the City of Santa Ana, the same being portions of Costa <br />Mesa No. 027, Delhi No. 002, Diamond No. 004, Newport Beach No. 064, <br />Paularino No. 061 and Paularino No. 062, and such territory outside <br />of the City of Santa Ana is included for the purpose of voting on four <br />members of the Board of Education only. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: That the Precinct Board of each precinct shall <br />consist of one Inspector, one Judge, and two Clerks; and that said <br />Precinct Officers shall receive the following compensation for their <br />services: Inspectors, $21.00; Judges and Clerks, $18.00; owners of <br />privately owned polling places shall receive the sum of $15.00 for <br />the use of each polling place. <br /> <br /> That the consolidated voting precincts, the polling places <br />thereof, and the Precinct Board for each such precinct shall be as set <br />out on that certain document headed "ELECTION OFFICERS AND POLLING <br />PLACES" on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council, and the <br />Boards of each such voting precinct are hereby appointed. The Clerk <br />of the Council is hereby authorized to find and appoint substitutes <br />for any election officer hereby appointed who is unable or unwilling <br />to act. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: That said Election shall be held and conducted in <br />accor dance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Santa <br />Ana, the Constitution of the State of California, and the provisions <br />of the Elections Code of the State of California insofar as the same <br />may be applicable thereto. On the day of the Election the polls shall <br />be opened at 7:00 A.M. and shall be kept open until 7:00 P.M., at <br />which time the polls shall be closed. The Clerk of the Council shall <br />prepare and cause to be published a NOTICE OF ELECTION for one time; <br />a list of names of the nominees in the order in which they will appear <br />on the Ballot and the respective offices for which they are nominated <br />once a week for two successive weeks, at least 5 intervening days <br />between the dates of publication; and a notice of election officers <br />and polling places for one time. <br /> <br /> SECTION 5: The Clerk of the Council shall prepare and cause to <br />be printed official ballots and election supplies necessary for the <br />holding of said Election as required by law, and sample ballots and <br />polling place cards, and shall provide for the mailing of the same to <br />each registered elector within the City, and shall mail sample ballots <br />and polling place cards to those electors in the Santa Ana School <br />Districts but outside of the City. <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
