P71' <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 950 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGISTRATION OF <br /> BICYCLES BY THE OWNERS THEREOF., AND FOR THE <br /> PREVENTION OF TR'E~T OF THE SANS~, AND FOR THE <br /> DETECTION AND IDENTIFICATION OF LOST OR STOLEN <br /> BICYCLES AND FOR THE OP~IATION THEREOF UPON ANY <br /> STREET OR PUBLIC HIGh, IffY OF THE CITY OF SANTA <br /> ~ AND PARTS OF <br /> ANA; REPEALING KLL OTHER ORDINANCEo <br /> ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HER~NITH, .AND PROVIDING <br /> PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION H~RZOF. <br /> <br /> The City Council of the City of Santa Aha ordains as follows: <br /> SECTION 1: The word "person" shall mean and include both the singular and <br />plural, and shall also mean and include person, individual, firm, corporation, co-partne~ <br />ship, association, club, society or any other organization. <br /> <br /> SECTION ~: That each and every ov~ner or person in charge or control of a <br />bicycle or bicycles, excepting dealers thereof, within the corporate limits of the City <br />of Santa Aha, County of Orange, State of Ca]mforn_a, shall within thirty (~0) days from <br />~ud after the passage of this ordinance, register said bicycle with the City OlerL of <br />the City of Santa Aha. Said application shall state the name and address of the owner <br />or. person in charge Or control of such bicycle or bicycles, the make and kind of bicycle~ <br />the factory number thereof~ the name of the person, firm, corporation or association fron <br />whom the same was purchased, and such other description and information relative thereto <br />as may,' in the judgment of the Ci'ty Clerk of the City of Santa Aha, be necessary and <br />proper for the identification thereof; thereupon the City Clerk of the City of Santa Aha <br />shall, upon the pa.wvaent by said applicant of a fee of fifty cents (50~) for the use and <br />benefit of the City of Santa Aha, issue to such applicant an identification metal tag <br />having thereon, in raised figures and letters, "S.A.", the year, and a serial n~mber~ <br />which tag shall be immediately placed and securely attached by such owner or person in <br />charge or control of such bicycle or bicycles upon the front upright bar of such bicycle <br />and at or Just below'the handle bars thereof, so that the same may be plainly seen, and <br />which metal tag shall at all times during the current year, remain on said. bicycle and <br />not be removed therefrom. Said City Clerk of the City of Santa Aha shall at the same <br />time give to said person in charge or control of such bicycle or bicycles, an identificat. <br />ion card, said card to be carried at all times by the person in charge thereof,~ when <br />said bicycle is in use, having upon it thg identification number assigned to the owner <br />of such bicycle registered, also stating the name and address of the owner, and a brief <br />description of such bicycle. <br /> <br /> SECTION 5~ On and after the second day of Narch A.D. 19~9, the annual <br /> <br /> 't <br /> registration $f bicycles as herein provided shall begin wm~h the first day'of January of <br /> <br /> each year, and end with the thirty-first day of December of each year, and the registrati <br /> of each and every bicycle owned and used within the corporate limits of the City of Santa <br /> Aha shall be accomplished each _year in the manner provided in Section 2 hereof. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Santa Aha shall be and he is hereby <br /> required to carefully file and preserve, said application set out in Section 2 hereof, and <br /> to keep a register of all bicyles for which said metal identification tags and cards are <br /> issued,.whlch register shall contain the name of the owner or person in charge or control <br /> of such bicyle or bicycles, the make and factory number of the bicycle, aod the number of <br /> the identification tag, and such other memoranda as may be in the discretion of the City <br /> Clerk of the City of Santa Aha necessary and proper for the carryinS out of the purpose o: <br /> <br />n <br /> <br /> <br />
