NO. 04-032) <br /> <br />Ma <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />f",,;, <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Reject the bids <br />nonresponsive. <br /> <br />from CompuCom Systems, <br /> <br />Inc. <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />GTSI <br /> <br />Corp <br /> <br />as <br /> <br />. 2. <br /> <br />Award a contract to En pointe Technologies Sales Inc. for <br />Microsoft Windows XP Professional software upgrade in the amount <br />of $17,255.88. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Public Works Agency requires software upgrades for desktop <br />computers that are not currently using Microsoft Windows 2000 operating <br />software. Microsoft will no longer support its Microsoft Windows NT <br />operating software after June 30, 2004. In addition, printer and <br />accessory hardware compatibility problems with the Windows NT operating <br />system have resulted in lost productivity, and support for a unified <br />method to apply and manage security repairs is not available for <br />Windows NT. The recommended action will ,allow for the necessary <br />software upgrades to Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating <br />software. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on March 10-11, 2004 and bids <br />were solicited.
