NO. 05-005) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br />0 As Recommended <br />0 As Amended <br />0 Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />0 Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />0 Implementing Resolution <br />0 Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />1/ <br /> <br />{l¡¡;a.. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Jam Services, Inc., under the County of Sacramento's <br />contract, for the purchase of traffic signal LED lamps in the amount of <br />$130,809. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The California Energy Commission recently adopted energy efficiency <br />standards that require the power consumption of all traffic signal lamps <br />to be equal to or less than 25 watts. The red and green traffic signals <br />in the City were converted to energy efficient LED lamps in 2001. The <br />eight inch yellow traffic signals and pedestrian signals are still using <br />regular lamps, with power consumptions of 65 and 28 watts. The City <br />will reduce energy costs by an estimated $5,000 per year, after the <br />signals are converted to LED lamps. <br /> <br />The County of Sacramento's contract with Jam Services, Inc. was awarded <br />as a result of open, competitive bidding, and allows other governmental <br />agencies to purchase the traffic signal LED lamps as specified, and at <br />the same price. <br /> <br />221-1 <br /> <br />CS 383 <br />
