APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />ACTION ITEM: Minutes of November 4, 2003 meeting were approved as submitted. <br /> <br />'-' <br /> <br />2. PEPSI CONTRACT <br />Staff presented a brief history of the current 5-year agreement with Pepsi Cola Bottling <br />Group. The agreement will expire in May 2004. Pepsi currently has 30 vending machine in <br />14 of our park sites that generate an annual revenue of$12,144. With the projected annual <br />electrical cost of$7,380, the net profit for this service is $4,764. <br /> <br />PRCSA staff surveyed 21 cities regarding beverage vending machine contracts in an attempt <br />to identify any lucrative type agreements and/or arrangements with beverage companies. <br />The cities that generate annual revenues of$300,000 to $600,000 are Huntington Beach and <br />Oakland. Their contracts are comprehensive in scope and include annual cash contributions, <br />signage, product exposure at events, logos and vending machines on a citywide basis. <br />ACTION ITEM: <br />1) Explore discussions with Huntington Beach to review what the city did on <br />executing the beverage contract. Look into the possibility of contracting with <br />persons with expertise in these types of negotiations. <br />2) Staff to explore and submit request to vendors for ideas to increase the <br />revenue on the beverage contracts. <br /> <br />\w- <br /> <br />3. STADIUM PROGRAM UPDATE (MARIACHI FESTIVAL) <br />The 3rd annual Mother's Day Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2004, 2:00 p.m. <br />to 5 :00 p.m. at the Santa Ana Stadium. Staff presented the proposed entertaiument for the <br />event and possible sponsors. Information packets have been prepared which contain <br />information on the 2003 event. Staff will coordinate a targeted letter campaign soliciting <br />sponsorship. Last year the event drew 2,500 people and generated $10,288 in ticket sales and <br />$24,000 in private cash donations. The total expenditures last year were $31,000. <br />
