The "Preserve America" program is a federal government initiative <br />developed in cooperation with the Advisory Council on Historic <br />Preservation and the u.S. Departments of the Interior, Commerce, <br />Agricul ture, and Housing and Urban Development. This designation is <br />given to cities that have demonstrated a commitment to recognize, <br />designate, and protect local cultural resources. <br /> <br />The Preserve America designation affords the City of Santa Ana the <br />opportunity to apply for Preserve America Federal Grants. The 2006 <br />Preserve America Grant provides the City of Santa Ana with an opportunity <br />to fund activities to promote the City's historic resources through <br />educational programs and marketing to enhance and encourage tourism in <br />our historic downtown. The Preserve America grant is a competitive grant <br />process and must be submitted for consideration by May 19, 2006. <br /> <br />558-1 <br />
