Various departments <br />require a wide range of materials for repair or improvement projects. To <br />help ensure that all necessary materials are available when required, staff <br />recommends awarding a contract to two vendors. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on October 2 and 4, 2006 and bids <br />were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as <br />follows: <br /> <br />17 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />6 Invitations For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors <br />2 Bids received <br />1 Bid received from a Santa Ana vendor <br /> <br />Bids were received, opened on October 11, 2006 and evaluated by price, <br />range of commodities, and vendor location. The bids received from Irvine <br />Pipe & Supply, Inc., a Santa Ana vendor, and Smardan Supply Co. are <br />responsive to the specification.
