15512/17/07 RESOLUTION NO. 2008-001 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE PUBLIC WORKS AGENCY TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE COUNTY OF ORANGE FOR THE REGIONAL RECYCLING AND WASTE DIVERSION GRANT PROGRAM BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: A. The County of Orange has established the Regional Recycling and Waste Diversion Grant Program to provide funds for the implementation of recycling and waste diversion programs to promote local and regional recycling efforts and divert materials from Orange County landfills; and B. The City of Santa Ana intends to use Program funds to provide a curbside collection program for universal waste, including household batteries, florescent lamps, items containing mercury, electrical and electronic devices. Section 2. The City Council hereby authorizes the filing of an application for the Regional Recycling and Waste Diversion Grant Program in the amount of $40,000 to fund a curbside collection program for universal waste. Section 3. The Council appoints the City Manager or the Executive Director of the Public Works Agency, or their designee(s), as agent of the City of Santa Ana to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents, including but not limited to applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests and so on, which may be necessary for he completion of the project. Section 4. The City Council agrees to comply with all terms and conditions outlined in the Regional Recycling and Waste Diversion Grant Program document. Section 5. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this Resolution.
