The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. On October 1, 2009, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly <br />noticed public hearing for the placement qn the Santa Ana Register of <br />Historical Properties (Historic Resources '.Commission Application No. <br />2009-02} and categorization (Historic Resources Commission <br />Categorization No. 2009-02) of the United States Post Office, Spurgeon <br />Office, located at 601 North Bush Street, Santa Ana, California. <br />B. The United States Post Office was constructed in 1931 in the <br />Mission/Spanish Colonial/Classic Revival style. <br />C. It is being categorized as Landmark due to its listing on the National <br />Register of Historic Places and the California Register of Historic <br />Resources, as well as "exemplifying the distinguishing characteristics" of <br />the Spanish Colonial Revival with Classical Revival style. <br />D. Additionally, the building is being categorized as Landmark because of its <br />association with Work Progress Administration of President Franklin <br />Delano Roosevelt. <br />E. The legal owner of the subject property is the United States of America. <br />F. The legal description for the subject property is attached hereto as Exhibit <br />A and incorporated by this reference as though fully set forth herein. <br />G. The subject property meets the minimal standards for placement on the <br />City of Santa Ana Register of Historic Properties pursuant to Section 30-2 <br />of the Santa Ana Municipal Code. <br />Resolution No. 2009-04 <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
